You’re now checking the vibe of Urban Sounds Music Group, but what you’re
seeing isn’t everything. This crew goes way back to when Hip Hop was only an
American thing and reggae was just a Jamaica thing… and putting the two
together wasn’t even a thought!
It all started in nineteen eighty-something with two young brothers one
could DJ (Kid Faregna) and the one could play instruments. They started
their little studio and soon released their first single ‘Body Tune Up’.
Under the management of Murdock Management the single was highly publicized
and lead to numerous shows across the continent and the Islands. Hard work
produced several more singles and the crew expanded to include Drew James (known
then as Rose Bandit) and Jackie Clarke.
After winning an award at the Canadian Reggae Music Awards, the crew did the
unthinkable, they mixed Reggae and Hip Hop! The result was another hit
called “The Musical Clash”. Now they were trendsetters in the Canadian
market and continued to experiment. They released
an LP which consisted an Reggae/Jungle tracks in England. Drew James released
an R&B single; Kid Fareigna released over five singles in a year; and Docta
was producing tracks for over 15 artists a year!
More production help was needed and along came Rob "MaddHitz” Provo
just in time. He brought along some of his artists and the success stories
continued. Kid released a Reggae/RnB track “Lover Like This” that was an
instant hit in Canada.
Urban Sounds Music Group is now focused on completing several albums for Daville a young rapper, and
Kid Fareigna. Kid is also finishing up the last 2 videos for the album. MaddMobb is doin' big things!
